One of the newest members of our Sales team is Bart Latimer. Even though he is new to the MJS Packaging team, he is no stranger to the packaging industry. With over 20 years of experience in a number of industries, he is a key piece of the MJS team working in Atlanta, GA and focusing on customers in the Southeast region.

Bart Latimer’s Packaging Industry Journey

Bart got his start with Mead while he was still attending Shorter University, a small college in Georgia. His salesmanship caught the attention of other companies and he was recruited to join the team at Georgia Pacific/Veritiv, a paper and packaging company.

After spending time in the paper industry, Bart expanded his sales experience working at several injection molding companies. Working in these various industries allowed Bart to gain experience and an understanding of the many facets in the manufacturing and distribution areas of the packaging industry.

His Career with MJS Packaging

Bart spent over 6 years with Gamer Packaging honing and developing his sales skills and knowledge which led him to our company. The culture at MJS Packaging was what first attracted Bart to our team. After his first encounter with Matt McDonnell (Chair of the Board) and Ken Goldberg (SVP of Sales, Eastern Region), he knew that MJS Packaging was the right fit for expanding his career.

Once a part of the team, Bart really connected with our culture. He felt right at home with MJS Packaging’s philosophies on conducting business and treating people well. The more people he met throughout the organization, Bart’s confidence grew in knowing that MJS Packaging was where he belonged.

His Passion for Sales and the Packaging Industry

One thing Bart has learned over the past 20 years in packaging is that the industry is always evolving. Bart’s love for new packaging technologies, designs and products and the challenges that come with them are the elements that drive his passion for the industry.

One challenge he is currently facing is working with a customer who will be conducting chemistry and compatibility testing as well as shelf stability testing. This packaging project has many layers of complexity, illustrating a sales role in the packaging industry is not as simple as some might think!

This is nothing new for Bart. In the past, he has developed projects that started from the back of a napkin. With just the initial idea, he was able to take the project to design and engineering, and eventually all the way to the shelf. Bart does not just look at packaging as a container to hold a product. He appreciates that packaging has both form and function and recognizes the role that both design and branding play.
