Community means a lot to the history, mission, and employees at MJS Packaging, which is why it’s still one of our core values today. In 2014, we began a great relationship with the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit (RMHD), and it keeps getting better.
On Tuesday, June 19, RMHD unveiled the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Children’s Hospital of Michigan in partnership with MJS Packaging.
What is the Family Room?
The Family Room, open to any family member of a patient of Children’s Hospital of Michigan, serves as a quiet space and opportunity for parents and families to rest while still remaining close to their child in care.
We enjoy our partnership with RMHD because of the inclusive and loving environment they provide for the families of children receiving medical treatment. Tranquil, comfortable spaces, like this new room, are important to help ease the parents’ minds.
Amenities
According to RMHD, amenities included in the new Family Room are:
- Laundry Services (detergent and supplies provided; two units, one is ADA accessible)
- Shower (soap and toiletries provided)
- 4 sectioned-off quiet areas with comfortable recliners
- Vending machines
- A workstation with outlets for charging your laptop
- A large, open-concept living room with a fireplace and TV
- Children’s play area
MJS Packaging has a strong focus on uplifting the community in the markets we serve. President of MJS Packaging David Lubin agrees that community involvement is crucial for society today. “Our involvement with the Ronald McDonald House Charities has been amazing! We enjoy giving back to our community, and we feel very fortunate to be a part of how the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit grows and touches the lives of each family who uses their facilities.”
Additionally, MJS Packaging employees have volunteered for RMHC in many areas, such as preparing meals for families, answering phone calls during a telethon, planting flowers, and attending events in Detroit and other various locations across the country.
