Nicole Coxford is a significant asset to MJS Packaging as our Product Line Design & Development Manager in our retail division. Let’s take an in-depth look at how she has made an impact at MJS Packaging during her tenure with us.

DEVELOPED FOR DESIGN

Nicole got her start in the stationery and scrapbooking industry as a Product Development Manager, designing craft kits and paper goods for major retailers. She then transitioned to the pet industry, serving as a Design & Development Manager of private label pet goods for a major pet retailer.

The chance to use her graphic design and product and project management skills drew Nicole to MJS Packaging in 2014. The kind, supportive and fun colleagues that surround Nicole are a great benefit to her work life here. She loves that she gets to flex her creative muscles every day in this role. We are thankful to have had Nicole with us for 10 years.

FROM CONCEPT TO EXECUTION

Nicole’s resume made her a superb fit for product design and development of our Sprayco Consumer Products and Miamica brands at MJS Packaging. Her understanding of consumer needs and keen eye for trends and patterns propels her to develop fantastic products for our retail partners.

Nicole describes her job as fun and fast-paced. Her amazing concepts come to life in the plastic spray bottles, travel bottles and jars, and Microban® travel accessories that you see on store shelves at major retailers. “Between our travel plastics, fashion accessories and spray bottles, we make so many everyday activities easier and more efficient. Traveling, gardening, household cleaning…. we have products that can be used in multiple capacities.”

CREATIVITY AT THE SOURCE

When you’re passionate about your craft, you really love every part of it. Nicole finds the process of molding bottles fascinating and has been fortunate enough to see many different resins molded in-person.

The product development process involves Nicole creating products that retailers can stock for both consumer necessities and desires. She finds that product inspiration can strike at any moment, whether she is walking the grocery aisle or scrolling Instagram. “I love package design. But I also really like the ideation phase of a completely new product. From sketching it out to seeing it in its physical form on a store shelf.”

WHY WE DO IT

“Within my role, it is very rewarding to see products that I design and develop ‘out in the wild.’ There is nothing like walking through a major retailer and seeing that item on a shelf.”

Nicole has a wide skillset, a plethora of experience and isn’t afraid to take on a new challenge. Her latest mantra is “I am open to, and I welcome opportunity.” She is quick to deliver on new product innovation, offering speed to market for our retailers. Consumer mindsets change and new opportunities arrive within the marketplace. The retail industry can’t afford to be complacent.
