A Passion For Packaging
With 33 years in the packaging industry, Keo has unmatched knowledge and experience. Her familiarity with rigid and label packaging has enabled her to offer comprehensive solutions for her customers. Keo joined Riekes Container in 2012, and when the company was acquired by MJS Packaging in 2017, she put her expertise to work with the new team.
Keo has had a wide variety of experiences in the packaging industry. Starting as a customer service rep, she quickly moved up the ranks to various sales roles. Driven by a desire to spend more time at home with her four children, Keo eventually decided to shift her career away from traveling sales for a little while. Her most recent role is as an Account Specialist, working with some of the company’s biggest customers.
Keo recognizes that packaging is an ever-evolving industry, and there will always be a need for some kind of packaging — whether it is flexible or rigid. She spends hours going to the store looking at different types of packaging, always eager to learn more and help customers find the perfect solution. Her commitment to the packaging industry and her customers makes Keo a true industry leader.
She has always had a passion for food. She loves working in the food and beverage industry and especially enjoys learning about food manufacturing facilities and their various processes. Food is an incredibly fast commodity; people buy it, eat it and then buy more of it. Keo finds this fascinating and loves being part of the ever-changing food industry.
Keo has always been intrigued by how things work, from how a lithography printing press creates an image to how the human brain processes information. This curiosity segued naturally into working in the packaging industry. She looks forward to seeing how technology and design will continue to shape the future of packaging.
Saving A Label Project
While working for a litho company, Keo singlehandedly saved a nationally branded label project. When her company was hired to print the labels, she noticed a color mismatch in one of the design elements. The blue background came out purple and stood out against the rest of the packaging. The customer initially wanted to refuse the labels.
Rather than just accepting defeat, Keo offered up a solution. She pointed out that not only did the new color make that element look different from the logo, but it also made the entire package really pop on store shelves. In the end, Keo’s insight convinced this customer to use her company’s labels — and they were successful.
Being Part Of The Bigger Picture
Keo is a hard worker with an eye for the bigger picture. As a strategic thinker and team player, she loves being part of a team working toward common goals and takes great pride in helping her company and its customers grow.
One of her favorite packaging memories is when she was a part of a seven-person team that started the first injection in-mold label company in the U.S. The team worked hard and played hard, and she learned so much from this experience. Building lasting relationships with customers and manufacturing partners as a fully cohesive team is important to her.
What makes Keo unique is her ability to see all sides of an issue. She can find solutions that work for both the customer and the company. Her wit and sense of humor make her a joy to work with, and her neutrality ensures that everyone always feels heard.
