We’re excited to spotlight Emily Kapcia, our dedicated Assistant Controller. Emily plays a pivotal role in ensuring MJS Packaging’s financial stability and supporting both our employees and customers.
ANCHORS AWAY
Emily first discovered her love for accounting through an Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) internship. Following receipt of her BBA in Finance and Management, she worked in various AP roles until she was promoted to Assistant Controller. Reflecting on her journey, Emily shares, “It has been a winding road, but I’m happy it led me to MJS Packaging.”
We warmly welcomed Emily to our team in 2022 as Assistant Controller. This was a great year for Emily, as she also received her MS in Accounting. Her strong accounting and finance background allows her to excel in her work here and enhance financial operations.
ALL HANDS ON DECK
As Assistant Controller, Emily assists with monthly financials, annual budgets and yearly reviews. She elaborates, “My role is to see the big picture, understand how one change would affect it, and know how to correct for that change if needed.”
Beyond core duties, Emily assists team members inside and outside of her department. She supports the Sales team in navigating complex orders and resolving customer payment inquiries. Emily says that accounting’s clear and clean rules help her operate smoothly. “In a world of chaos, accounting has granted me some order.”
TRIMMING THE SAILS
Our Accounting team helps to keep the ship afloat by providing confirmation and validation in reviewing financials. “We safeguard the financial health of the company.” Emily’s work in facilitating conversations between our Sales team and our customers helps to circumvent issues and ensure customer satisfaction.
She helps review new orders and handle customer payment inquiries. We pride ourselves in providing a welcome experience, agile response, and consistency in communication. Emily helps us shine in those customer touch points. “We keep what’s best for our customers and for MJS Packaging at the front of our minds.” This keeps us on a path of continuous improvement.
SMOOTH SAILING
“Success in accounting is when everything seems to work.” Emily gets a thrill out of improving processes and solving complicated questions. For example, upgrading to an electronic document management system was a project that Emily proudly contributed to. “It’s going to make it easier to do research and faster to assist our team members and customers.”
Emily is not surprised that there is someone who has been with the company for at least a decade in every department. When you have this kind of atmosphere, people gravitate toward it… and stay. “MJS Packaging is special. We’re a company who cares about our workers and equally about our customers.”
CONSISTENCY IN SERVICE
It’s plain to see that Emily values integrity and consistency in how she serves. Her diligence, dedication, and delicious baked goods make her a tremendous asset to our team! When she’s not reviewing financials, we are delighted that Emily shares her delicious cookies, cakes and cornbread with the office.
