Building a Foundation in Quality Engineering
Before joining MJS Packaging, Shannon built her career across the automotive and electronics manufacturing industries, taking on roles in manufacturing and process engineering, quality engineering and quality management. That progression gave her a deep, hands-on understanding of what it takes to maintain consistent quality standards in complex, fast-moving supply chains.
When Shannon came across the opportunity at MJS Packaging, two things stood out immediately: the company’s culture and its commitment to work-life balance. “I was also interested in learning more about the many industries that MJS Packaging services,” she says. That curiosity about the breadth of what MJS does has proven well-founded, as Shannon has been an integral part of the team for two years.
Managing Quality Across the Supply Chain
As Quality Coordinator, Shannon oversees MJS Packaging’s quality function with a scope that touches every part of the business. Her responsibilities include qualifying and continuously assessing packaging manufacturers, conducting internal audits, attending customer and manufacturer audits, documenting and supporting the resolution of customer concerns, and evaluating and addressing non-conforming products.
One of the aspects of her role Shannon values most is the cross-functional work it requires. “My role supports all areas of the business, so I really enjoy collaborating daily across various departments,” she explains. “I also get to assess a variety of product specifications and circumstances, so that keeps things fresh and interesting.”
Shannon sees the impact of her department as fundamentally two-sided. “I hold our packaging manufacturing partners accountable for delivering a quality product that meets customer requirements and I support our Sales team in ways that allow them to focus on growing the business for our customers,” she says. That accountability extends well beyond the office. Shannon travels directly to manufacturing partner locations to troubleshoot quality issues on the ground, driving robust root-cause and corrective-action processes to prevent recurrence. When urgent quality concerns arise, she escalates with agile response to ensure quick action and resolution. She also conducts manufacturer scorecard reporting, providing regular performance feedback and facilitating continuous improvement discussions with the partners MJS Packaging relies on. The result is a quality function that customers and internal teams can depend on. Shannon provides exceptional support and effective solutions in a timely manner, with an impressive knowledge of quality standards and a consistent approach to every case she takes on. Coming from a background in automotive and electronics manufacturing, Shannon arrived at MJS Packaging with strong quality instincts but a fresh perspective on the packaging world. The breadth of industries that MJS Packaging serves means that no two quality challenges look exactly alike and Shannon brings the same disciplined, solutions-focused approach to each one. For Shannon, success is about more than meeting targets. “To me, success means achieving my personal and professional goals while maintaining a balance in my life,” she explains. “It means being able to make a positive impact on the world and the people around me, while also finding fulfillment and satisfaction in my own life.” A quote she returns to reflects that balanced outlook: “The happiest people don’t have the best of everything, they just make the best of what they have.” It is a reminder, she says, that perspective and gratitude matter as much as achievement.
