Silk-screen Printing

All kinds of containers and packages need labels with brands and other information relevant to the sale and purchase of the products. There are different kinds of processes used to print labels and one that is very popular is silk screening or silk screen printing. This form of printing uses a stencil, called a screen and applying layers of ink. In earlier times, stencils were hand-drawn and cut, but in modern times, digital designs are used, the camera ready artwork is made into a photo image and then the image is put on a photo-sensitive specified screen mesh. After that the ink is applied with a squeegee, each color applied separately. Silk screening gives a very attractive look to the packaging helping it stand out.

The advantages of silk screening

Silk screening is used for all kinds of packaging, particularly plastic because it offers a range of bright and firm colors, striking designs and graphics lending your product a unique look. As silk screen printing can printed directly on the packing, you get ready to fill packages so you don’t have to go through the hassle of separately getting labels printed as well as the additional cost.

It can be used for all kinds of packaging materials, bottles and other containers made of

· Glass

· Plastic in all its variations

· Tinplate

· Aluminum

· Ceramic

Additionally it can be used to decorate 360° of the container’s surface, so there is greater visibility. One of the major benefits of silk screen printing is that it can give a raised feel to the printing, increasing its attractiveness and eye-appeal that is important when a product is sold off the shelves. Even the closures can be printed on if required.
